Signed, sealed, delivered, or more like, cleared, actually. First installment of 2014-2015 tuition for College Girl has been paid... let junior year begin!
Life... *sigh*
It's a quiet day and there's plenty of down time when I can be mulling over what to write about today, but I'm washing dishes that were sitting in the sink since last night. Yesterday, was much busier than expected; we hardly had a minute to do anything other than what was jotted down on our Must Do lists. I guess we're all recovering from that.
Some day my blog will be peppered with words of wisdom and knowledge; interspersed with informative, intelligent subject matter, but I'm not there yet... seriously, at this point in time, I cannot make any promises. Ha. For now, there's this - life as I know it. And, right now, that mean's starting dinner.
Oh! And Doctor Who!
Let's do this!
Until tomorrow ~ Lil

Babies, Toddlers, Grade Schoolers, Tweens, Teens, Young Adults, Moms, Dads, Cousins and One Senior, Oh My!
Family. Had a fab time tonight celebrating August birthdays in honor of my sister & son. Pot Luck buffet dinner of favorite family dishes, plus my famous tossed bags o' salad assortment was a hit with all. And, cake and ice cream... come on.
And, yes, the whole gamut of groupings were represented. Every one happily wished College Girl happy travels, and best of luck at school for junior year. We in turn wished all the school kids a great year, and encouraged them to give it their all and to seek assistance from us if they hit a rough patch.
GiGi Ma relished the moment, always grateful for another year of shared celebrations. She's healthier than she has been in years and looks and acts decades younger than most 86 year olds. A loving, good time was had by all.
Making memories... I needed this tonight.

The Last Time Ever*...
Done. It is done. [whispers] Done.
That's it. Last one. [whisp... gasps] Hhhh... oh.
Time, where did it go? [gasp... weeps; deep breath] Just one more week... try to cheer up.
I need more time... [breathe...] ...more time to make it all up to you.
Meet me half way, [whispers] okay?
I love you so much. [sighs] Don't lose your way.
... [softly] Sleep my youngest one,
For tomorrow brings a new day.
* A mother's thoughts on the last time registering a child for school.

No News Is Good
This news junkie is taking a break from too many days of senselessness, restless protest, and utter failure by community leaders to use fair judgement, create an atmosphere of healing and understanding, and commitment to making "it" stop. So, I'm trying to focus on happy thoughts; not dwelling on the terribleness of "today." Granted, it is not "my" terrible, but it does create feelings of sadness, hopelessness, exhaustion, but mostly heartache. Especially tough today was seeing a tweet about tragic loss of a captured journalists. It was time to step away.
No news is good news, if you can force yourself to avoid it.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder ~ My Story
It's real. I was shocked to learn I had it. I had never heard of it before. Therapy and guidance with a LCSW taught me the tools to cope with it. I'll tell you my tale tomorrow.

Lil's Week In Review ~ August 17, 2014
FOOD
Winner Dinner: Tonight's build your own burger... white meat turkey burgers, lightly seasoned or cajun seasoned, green leaf lettuce, sliced tomato, and my own personal additional preferences - light mayo, easy brown mustard, avocado (lots) on lovely potato buns, and yummy sweet potato fries on the side. Just realized I forgot to set out thinly sliced red onion. Ugh. Still, dinner was fab.
MOVIES!
~ Carilo Family Movies*: Summer 2014 flicks that we watched this week, as selected from @EW's "...essential movies kids must see before they turn 13." were...
#44 The Karate Kid I challenge anybody to do the "wax on; wax off" motion for 10 minutes and tell me you don't feel it in your shoulders tomorrow morning... ouch.
#45 Stand By Me All around loved movie around here.
#46 Fantastic Mr. Fox Stop what you are doing and watch this film.
#47 Big A personal favorite for many, many years now. Will stop flipping channels whenever I come across it playing on t.v.
#48 Some Like It Hot Holds up, my kids enjoyed it.
#49 Raiders of the Lost Ark Melty faces, come on. Wanted to watch first 3 back-to-back.
#50 Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl So many scenes adapted from actual ride, and cast extras made-up to appear as similar to caricatures from ride as possible... brilliant.
