From Happy to Crappy

This is the story of my day in 10 images:

G'morning guys... ready to eat?

Dogs let out; in from the rain. Now what?

Keeping things easy... breakfast in a cup. Yum.

Hanging out on the Interwebs.

Mom Taxi time...

Not bad for a rainy day.

Taxi Wife time.
This day took a turn two minutes after picking up the husband at work.
I wonder if life would be better as a *Bluth.

Working my magic in the kitchen... TA-DA!

... and speaking of magic, Harry Potter saves the day.

Time to call it a night.

Until tomorrow ~ Lil

What A Day!

Ha, no exclamation mark necessary. Mine is quite the uneventful life... hey, book title, maybe?

So, it has finally arrived,Thursday, July 24, 2014, first day of BlogHer '14! However, it's also ComicCon - SDCC14 - opening day! Truth be told, if I had to make the choice, I rather be at ComicCon... sorry all you bloggers. I'm just tons more familiar with stuff going on in San Diego than what is happening in San Jose, although I would like to someday experience a BlogHer conference and have the chance to possibly meet writers whose stories have "spoken" to me.

Of course, as a relative newbie to the blogging world, I will not be at this year's conference. It's just not in the budget. I'm also not at all pressed for time at the moment. Actually, I am rarely pressed for time. Since I didn't need to keep the car today... who wants to be out in 118 degree temps!? Not me, that's for sure, so I have plenty of time to work on today's prompt; I shall now blog in bullet points 10 things about my day so far.

  •  6:30   Nudged awake by Bookstore Boy... then again at 6:50.
  •  6:55   Got up to fix husband's ham and cheese sandwich.
  •  7:08* Took anxiety meds, and fell back to sleep. *approximately
  • 11:15  Nudged awake again by Bookstore Boy... one day after my doctor said, "No daytime sleeping."
  • Wished I could go back to bed.
  • Logged on my computer to tweet, watch YouTube videos, and read blogs.
  • Had chicken soup for lunch.
  • Anxiously awaited call from optician's office saying my new prescription glasses were ready, and from husband saying he "got the job." Zilch on both fronts.
  • Cooked dinner
  • Got ComicCon updates from Bookstore Boy all morning and afternoon.
I! Know!

Until tomorrow ~ Lil

Ten Things I Love About Blogging

Participating in BlogHer NaBloPoMo for July 2014 has made it easy to come up with my list of 10 things I love about blogging.  Here goes:

1.  Following the many writers who are brilliant at the business of blogging.

2.  For this month anyway, challenging myself to write a daily post and discovering it is possible... I've only missed one day!

3. The freedom to be myself... and, on occasion, un-showered .

4. Being able to do it at any hour... mostly at the crack of midnight.

5. No pressure to be perfect.

6. The idea that a random stranger from around the world might read my post, regardless I have only five followers, not many hits, and very rarely, a comment... and I'm okay with that.

7. No word-count limit.

8. No grades.

9. No shirt, no pants, no shoes.. no problem.

10. Options:  Edit, View, Share, or DELETE

Until tomorrow ~ Lil

Let's Go

Funny that today's BlogHer NaBloPoMo prompt is about travel - my husband is en route back home from Denver as I type this post. It was an 30-ish hour over-night trip which required he bring a briefcase and a fully packed, largest-size-allowed carry-on. I could have done with a backpack. I'm dumbfounded when we've had to travel by plane together. That guy brings tons of grooming stuff, and totes around twice as many bags and cases than I do.  If I do get the largest piece of luggage, it's because I also have all the kids clothes packed along with mine.

For Tuesday, July 22, 2014, the question is, "What are 10 things you pack whenever you travel?"

My 10 year old black Title 9 cap sleeve Tomboy dress... but it was left behind in the garage of our foreclosed house in Colorado when we couldn't fit a single thing more in our fully packed vehicle.

My ancient super comfy black Aerosoles shoes... but they were left behind in the garage with my clothes. I only brought flip-flops and driving shoes to California - remember, no room.

Spanx... duh - same fate as dress and shoes.

Easy-care skort... like this one from Eddie Bauer.

Yoga capris... still have those.

Velour hoodie... have.

Flip flops... College Girl's throw-aways at the mo.

Two cotton t-shirts

Neutrogena helioplex stuff for face (hands, arms.)

But, most importantly, this magical potion...

Magic Potion
aka Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer in Raisin

All this stuff must accompany undies, bras, & hygiene stuff.

See, I told you all I need is a backpack. But I do carry a roomy bag; nothing fancy... practical is my middle name.

Until tomorrow ~ Lil

Lil's Week In Review ~ July 20, 2014

Hello.

July 2014 NaBloPoMo Theme is DECADE, and since weekends are left open to blogger's choice, here goes.

This Week In Review:

SOMETHING EXCITING!

~ Personally speaking. After 5+ years, I finally had a much needed eye exam and selected new frames for new prescription to replace broken pair. So happy!

It's the little things.

FOOD!

~ Daily indulgence: Cherries... can't get enough of them. Last week Bing cherries were perfection; this week, not so much.

~ Dinner winner:  Leftover Cajun chicken tenders, diced and tossed with garlic, butter noodles and veggies.

~ Most wanted:  Sushi! Will I ever again have sushi? It's been way too long.

MOVIES!

~ Carilo Family Movies*: Summer 2014 flicks that we watched this week, as selected from @EW's "...essential movies kids must see before they turn 13." were...

#28 Black Stallion
#29 Willy Wonka
#30 Who Framed Roger Rabbit

 * WE INTERRUPT THIS SUMMER'S FILMFEST

~ Movie views were at a minimum this week due to unplanned evenings out, of all things, mall shopping, and haircut getting! The mall is so not my thing. That said, outings were for clothes for my husband. This fact should have been enough to put me off, but as it turned out, each outing was fun and almost stress free. My body is still recovering, but it was worth it. The hubs looked great head-to-toe in his job interview duds for tomorrow's interview in Denver.  Now, with this job prospect...

ATTENTION UNIVERSE:

~ I ask that our former hometown in Colorado welcome us back and provide these requests: Perfect health, wellness and comfort for my family. Perfect right job w/ perfect right salary & company benefits for Rick. Perfect right job, educational, & volunteer opportunities for the rest of us. Perfect right neighborhood, community and home life experience. Perfect right healthcare insurance and providers. Perfect right dog living. All things good... I ask of universe, for my good, my family's good, and good extended to those we encounter and all paths that lay before us.

May this good ripple out from all of us, and goodness stretch to it's furthest reaches no matter where from... be it here in the Southern California desert, or wherever Rick's career leads us. May all our efforts be purposeful and love filled. I send this out to the universe, believing... knowing all is possible. Please, affirm this with me. I did same as we departed the desert for our new life in Texas in 2000; I know achievement is possible again. In sincere gratitude. The Carilo Family....

WELCOME READERS!

~ This week's A How-To Guide visits from around the globe:

United States
Canada
Germany
Russia
Ukraine
India
United Kingdom
Australia
Latvia

Yay, world!

And speaking of world. May those in pain, fear, and sorrow be safely sheltered and cared for during uncertain times.  May world leaders see beyond differences and recognize the injustice perpetrated on civilians. May their eyes, hearts, and minds open and may they work together; beyond ego, selfishness, and unreasonable motives in order to strive without reservation to protect the innocent and defenseless.

PERSONAL GOALS:

~ Create one vlog next week in addition to completing daily NaBloPoMo posts before dinner.

Thanks for stopping by.

Until tomorrow ~ Lil
